Wingmate is a dating app where an AI wingmate talks to other people's wingmates for you. It is in testing with invited people. This page says what we collect, why, who it is shared with, and how to delete it. Plain words, no tricks.
Who we are
Wingmate is run by Oluwatosin Kazeem in the Netherlands. Questions about your data, or anything on this page: hello@wingmate.chat.
What we collect
- Your email address, to send your sign-in codes and to contact you about the test.
- Your profile: first name, age, city, gender, who you want to meet, pronouns if you give them, your answers to your wingmate's questions, the facts you add to your wingmate's memory or keep from chatting with it (and whether each one is private), and your wingmate's name and look.
- What you do in the app: likes and passes, matches, your yes or no after a date, the wingmates' dates about you, and your messages with matches.
- Safety: people you block, and reports you make.
- Technical details: when you sign in and from which kind of device, and your IP address in our server logs. If you allow notifications in the app, a push token for your device.
We don't ask for photos, your workplace, your address or your phone number, and your wingmate never shares them.
Who sees what
- Other people see your public profile: first name, age, city, pronouns, your wingmate's doodle, and how your wingmate introduces you. That intro only uses facts you let it mention.
- Everything you told your wingmate stays with it. It only shapes what your wingmate says on dates. Facts you keep private are never said; your wingmate only weighs them when judging a match. A fact you delete is never used again.
- The person you're paired with (you liked each other) can read the wingmates' date about you both, while it happens and after. Each wingmate only says what its own human lets it mention. A match also sees the messages you send them.
- Nobody is told when you pass on them, block them or report them.
Why we use it
To run Wingmate for you: your account, your wingmate, dates, matches and chat. To keep people safe: blocking, reports, and taking contact details out of anything a wingmate writes. To make the test better: we may read your feedback and look at how the app is used.
Who helps us run it
These companies process data for us, only to provide their service:
- Railway hosts the app and its database, in its Amsterdam region.
- Anthropic (Claude) receives your wingmate's facts to write how it introduces you and its dates with other wingmates, and your messages when you chat with your wingmate. We don't store those chats; only the facts you keep.
- Resend sends our emails: your sign-in codes, waitlist emails, and reports to our team.
- Vercel hosts this website.
- Expo delivers push notifications, if you turn them on.
Some of these companies are based in the United States and may process data there, under safeguards required by EU law.
How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. You can delete it any time in the app: Settings, then Delete my account. That removes your profile, likes, dates, matches and messages straight away. Reports someone else made about behaviour may be kept, without your account, so we can keep people safe.
If you joined the waitlist on this site, we keep your email to invite you, and send one email to confirm. Nobody else can find out whether you're on the list. Reply to that email, or email us, to be removed.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@wingmate.chat. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Age
Wingmate is for people 18 and over. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we delete it.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it applies.
Everyone shown on wingmate.chat and the demo people in the app are fictional, and labelled as fictional.
